These are some reasons why I have been dedicating
for the Open Source Movement for years.
I am interested in Computer Science since the very
early stage of personal computing.
When Internet became popular, I focused on network
security.
Due to my activities with police agencies the topic
was extended into forensics.
After 09/11 this topic increased not only in my research
interest.
My current research focus is on the analysis of Malware
like bot nets, worms, viruses, spam and traffic anomaly
detection.
Fighting against this threat is a research which is
important for the future of the Internet. Nowadays
at least 10% of our bandwidth is wasted by this unnecessary
traffic.
Approximately only 12 to 20 percent of all email traffic
is non-spam.
This hurts even more in low bandwidth areas like Africa.
